IN-HOUSE BRANDING, MARKETING & ADVERTISING
At the heart of EA’s expansion into casual online gaming in Europe, I served as Lead Graphic Artist and part of the senior European management team tasked with launching and growing the European version of Pogo.com, EA’s browser-based gaming platform.
As design lead, I was responsible for the entire visual output of the UK-based design and dev team, overseeing a four-person crew and acting as a creative bridge between European marketing teams and EA’s global platform, branding, and game development teams in the US.
This wasn’t just about pixel-pushing – it was about bringing brand cohesion, cultural localisation, and creative energy to a fast-growing platform that reached millions of users.
Building the Brand in Europe
I acted as brand guardian for Pogo’s European presence, ensuring consistency across all channels while tailoring creative output to regional audiences in English, French, and German. That meant refining and adapting the visual language of the site without compromising its original character.
Key workstreams included:
Translating and adapting brand identity for European users
Leading digital campaign design for games, events, and promotions
Creating localised landing pages, game pages, and interactive assets
Campaigns, Characters & Creative Direction
I worked across multiple game franchises to create campaign graphics, in-game art, and supporting visuals, while also contributing original character designs that aligned with the light, accessible tone of Pogo’s casual gaming world.
Alongside platform UI and digital campaigns, I designed and directed:
Email marketing and newsletters tailored to segmented audiences
Seasonal and themed digital ad campaigns
Character assets and bespoke illustrations for game promotion
Localised creative content with multilingual visual systems
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Design team leadership (UK-based creative/dev team)
Brand guardian for European Pogo.com presence
Multilingual localisation across English, French, and German markets
Creative campaign design for digital advertising and promotions
Landing page, UI and web design across multiple titles
Email design and newsletters
Character and asset design to support editorial and gameplay
This role combined hands-on creativity with strategic leadership – aligning EA’s brand goals with the demands of a growing international audience and helping make Pogo.com a familiar, engaging platform across Europe.
